The project requires 3 continue booths. The space will be arranged into thirty cubes with 1' x 1' x 1', which were going to rent by students from Hong Kong local art schools(BU, CU, HKAS) with HKD50 per cube.
The project aims to satirize the local art market ecosystem. Every year about 200 potential-artists graduates from the three art schools. Most of them are looking forward to the great opportunities given by West Kowloon cultural district. Besides, the annual international art fair is giving a illusion that Hong Kong is a paradise for Art Buyer. However in fact, how much opportunities could be given to these young graduates? Do all of them possible to be supported by the entire local art ecosystem? The answer is negative. Not only about exhibiting spaces, curators, chance nor collectors, the art market is far not yet ready to digest the growth of 200 new artists per year.
We are using the form of cubic shops to create an ultra-mini art market, providing exposure and opportunity for more artists being neglected by the art market ecosystem. Our unit act as a intermediary to smooth out connection between the artists and gallery.
